Tadeusz Majda, a renowned Polish Orientalist and specialist in Islamic art, has died. He was the head of the Eastern Art Department at the National Museum in Warsaw and served as the scientific editor of the book "Masterpieces of Iranian Art in Polish Collections."

In 2002, Majda organized the landmark exhibition "Masterpieces of Iranian Art" at the National Museum in Warsaw and later at the National Museum in Krakow, featuring over 400 works from 30 museums, 8 churches, and 6 private collections.

In 2013, the two-volume "Masterpieces of Iranian Art in Polish Collections" was published in Iran by the Academy of Arts, with Majda"s efforts and a Persian translation by Mehdi Moghiseh and Davoud Tabaei Aghdaei. The first volume includes images of paintings, carpets, metalwork, ceramics, glass, coins, and more, with bilingual captions. The second volume contains scholarly articles edited by Majda.

A professor at the University of Warsaw"s Faculty of Oriental Studies, Majda was recently working with the Academy of Arts to compile Safavid-era Persian miniatures from Polish collections—a project left unfinished due to his death. He also organized the 7th International Congress of Turkish Art in Warsaw (1983) and served as Secretary-General of its Permanent Committee since 1979.

His role in introducing Iranian treasures preserved in Polish museums remains invaluable.
