The specialized session "An Exploration into the Relationship Between Children and Music" will be held with the aim of examining the educational, psychological, linguistic, and social dimensions of children"s music.
According to the Public Relations of the Art Academy, music is a universal and profoundly influential language for children, intertwined with them from the earliest stages of life through the mother"s heartbeat and lullabies. Beyond entertainment or education, this art form serves as a bridge for communication, emotional expression, and shaping the child"s understanding of the world, impacting memory development, language skills, creativity, and emotional intelligence. However, in today"s world where children are exposed to a multitude of monotonous and pre-fabricated sounds, there is a risk of imposing musical tastes and weakening "active listening." Therefore, the role of adults is not to impose their own preferences, but to create a safe and diverse space for exploration and experience, allowing the child to connect with cultural heritage and authentic melodies while also discovering their own unique voice in the world of music. This intelligent companionship makes music a fundamental factor in nurturing a complete and creative human being.
In this regard, the Research and Artistic Deputy of the Art Academy and the Public Art Education Research Group are holding a specialized session titled "An Exploration into the Relationship Between Children and Music." In this session, experts and specialists in the field will examine the connection between children and music from various perspectives. This session is convened with the goal of opening new horizons in the field of the child-music relationship and presenting practical solutions in this area.
This session, scientifically chaired by Reza Mahdavi, a member of the Music Specialized Group of the Art Academy and a researcher and activist in the field of music, will feature Abdoljabbar Kakaei analyzing the linguistic content of children"s musical works by examining the language of contemporary songs in relation to children. Faezeh Feiz Sheikholeslam will explore the link between music and dramatic play in the child"s development process, and Maryam Akhavan Tookalli will analyze the role of music in changing mental patterns. Furthermore, Alaleh Daneshmand will discuss the connection between understanding children"s music and collective memory, Neda Nasiri will address the importance of auditory training in children"s musical development, and Mina Kashfi will analyze children"s music from the perspective of Pierre Bourdieu"s theory.
The session "An Exploration into the Relationship Between Children and Music" will be held on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at the Art Academy, located at 1552 Valiasr Street, Taleghani Intersection, Third Floor, Golestan Honar Hall, Tehran.
